A Lithuanian crosses the Atlantic Ocean

Aurimas Valujavičius completed a spectacular crossing of the Atlantic Ocean on Tuesday evening and shared his first posts on social media on Wednesday morning.

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing!” writes Aurimas.

“After 120 days, 14 hours and 48 minutes, the Atlantic Ocean is crossed! A lot of emotions, a huge challenge and the tenth voyage of a lifetime is officially complete!!!

“Believe in yourself, because if you don’t believe in yourself, who will believe in you?” adds the traveller.

Aurimas Valujavičius thanked all his fans: “Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this dream of mine come true, for your warm and motivating messages and thank you for believing in me!”

Valujavičius reached his historic finish in Miami on Tuesday, 25 April, just after 10 pm. He was greeted by his fans and relatives holding a flag that read: “Aurimas, good luck across the Atlantic!”. It was with this same flag, wishing him good luck that his family sent him off on his historic crossing of the Atlantic in December.

Although his journey took longer than expected – 120 days – Valujavičius has become the third person and the first Lithuanian to complete such a journey.

Valujavičius’s journey commemorated the 90th anniversary of the flight of Lithuanian pilots Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas across the Atlantic Ocean from continental Spain to Florida in the United States.
