Tauras Films, a renowned Lithuanian film production company celebrated for its notable works in Lithuanian cinema, recently achieved a major milestone on the international stage. After returning from the Venice Film Festival with their virtual reality film Playing Life, Tauras Films has received exclusive rights from the organization managing Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s legacy to create a virtual reality adaptation of the beloved classic The Little Prince. This adaptation is set to captivate audiences worldwide, with a global premiere planned for 2026.
According to Žilvinas Naujokas, founder of Tauras Films and a leading film producer, this landmark event is a first in Lithuanian cinema: “For the first time, creators from Lithuania have been granted rights to adapt one of the world’s most cherished literary works of the last century. The Little Prince is a universal classic, resonating with readers of all ages around the globe. The opportunity for Lithuanians to bring this story into a virtual reality format is a tremendous honour and achievement.”
The project has ambitious goals to collaborate with both Lithuanian and international creatives, including well-known Hollywood actors, many of whom are longtime fans of The Little Prince. With this adaptation, Tauras Films aims to expand its reach beyond Lithuania, establishing itself in the international market by creating a piece for a global audience.
“Our courage to embrace new technologies and our recent work in virtual reality films have allowed us to showcase the high ambitions of a small country, bringing top quality and innovative storytelling to the international film industry,” says Naujokas. “Our main goal is to leverage Lithuania’s audiovisual talent to finally create a production tailored for an international audience.”
As virtual reality technology rapidly advances and becomes more accessible to the general public, Tauras Films is at the forefront of this trend. Leading technology companies are continually innovating VR capabilities, and experts predict that VR will soon become an integral part of daily life. Through The Little Prince adaptation, Tauras Films is set to pioneer a new chapter in immersive storytelling, inviting audiences worldwide to experience this timeless tale in an entirely new dimension.
