Lithuanian composer Egidija Medekšaitė has won her second Gold Medal at Global Music Awards for her composition Amithaba.

“I am happy to share this achievement with everyone in Lithuania. It is hard to believe that I have won for the second time. Being a composer is a path that brings a lot of joy to everyday life,” said Egidija Medekšaitė, a composer living and working in the UK.

Amithaba is scored for 8 female voices and 5 cellos. It interweaves textiles with Indian ragas.

The artist has developed a unique compositional technique using the principles of textile weaving. Egidija Medekšaitė’s compositions creatively use textile patterns transformed into music. Her calculated structural patterns evoke a hypnotic and magical flow of sound – listeners embark on a journey full of mystery and harmony.

Egidija Medekšaitė was also awarded the Gold Medal at last year’s Global Music Awards for her ambient piece MALAKOSHA, which forms a part of her focused musical exploration over the last few years.

Lithuanian creators are challenging the world with their unique and unconventional approach. The distinctive style of our country’s creators has earned them the highest accolades on the global stage.
