Lithuanian unicorn Nord Security patents 100th invention in the US

Nord Security, a Lithuanian cybersecurity solutions company and a Lithuanian unicorn, founded by Lithuanians, has recently been reported to have successfully patented its 100th invention in the United States of America (US), according to BNS. This remarkable achievement has solidified the company’s position as the holder of the highest number of patents in the entire Baltic States region. Notably, Nord Security has emerged as the leading contributor in terms of registered patents within the cybersecurity sector in the US over the past three years.

All patented technological solutions have been developed and honed in Lithuania. Marijus Briedis, Chief Technology Officer at Nord Security said that the company has deliberately made a strategic decision to cultivate and develop innovative solutions within Lithuania.

‘The skilled IT specialists in Lithuania are fully capable of achieving this feat, while the company ensures an environment that fosters innovation and enables the development of highly competitive cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions worldwide,’ says Briedis.

The company’s most recent patents focus on enhancing the hardware features of its flagship product, NordVPN: Meshnet, a virtual network that enables secure direct access to devices across the globe through encrypted private tunnels, and Threat Protection, a solution designed to safeguard users against malware and tracking tools.

Most of the patents registered primarily focus on the advancement of Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology and the improvement of the password management tool, NordPass.

Nord Security is one of the world’s leading cybersecurity solution providers, with more than 15 million users. The company employs more than 1,300 people in 26 countries. VPNs, or virtual private networks, allow users to hide their identity when surfing the internet, also to access blocked websites and services. Notably, in 2022, Nord Security reached the coveted unicorn status by successfully securing a substantial 100 million funding in the United States, further fuelling its growth and innovation.
