In a significant move highlighting the spirit of philanthropy, Tomas Okmanas and Eimantas Sabaliauskas, shareholders of Tesonet Global, have been awarded the prestigious title of National Patron by the Government. This honor comes in recognition of their substantial donation of EUR 1,022,500 to the public institution Blue Yellow („Mėlyna ir geltona”), earmarked for Ukraine’s humanitarian aid.
The Law on Philanthropy, which governs such recognitions, stipulates that the title of National Patron is conferred by the Government upon the recommendation of the Minister of Culture and the Council for Philanthropy. This title is granted in acknowledgment of contributions of at least EUR 1 million towards approved philanthropic projects.
This recent award marks only the second instance of this title being bestowed since the Patronage Law was enacted in 2018. The inaugural recipient was Arvydas Paukštys, the founder and owner of Teltonika, honored for his contributions to the restoration of the Balbieriškis Cathedral, Church of the Virgin Mary of the Rosary.
The philanthropic efforts of Okmanas and Sabaliauskas have been recognized as a significant contribution to the public good, demonstrating Tesonet Global’s commitment to societal well-being.
The Ministry of Culture has announced plans to celebrate and honor national, municipal, and community philanthropists annually on November 15th, the Day of Patronage. This event aims to acknowledge and encourage the spirit of giving within the community. The names of the honored patrons will be inscribed in the Book of Patrons, a revered record kept at the National Museum within the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania.
