The Baltic Miltech Summit 2021, held on 6-7 October in Vilnius, Lithuania, is set to showcase Lithuania’s cutting-edge defence and technology sectors – providing partners from across Germany’s defence sector with an opportunity to widen their reach and connect with innovators in the region.
The largest conference of its kind in the Baltic States, Baltic Miltech brings together NATO and EU policymakers, businesses and researchers from the public and private sectors, to foster new and existing synergies and showcase the latest cutting-edge military technologies.
Lithuania’s thriving defence technology ecosystem numbers more than 40 companies, with great potential for future growth. Lithuanian companies are already active in both domestic and international markets, delivering world-class products that meet the needs of the global defence industry in the areas of optics, lasers, electronics, precision engineering and ICT.
“The Baltic Miltech Summit is a key outreach activity in the region, and demonstrates Enterprise Lithuania’s focus on taking the lead in strengthening the emerging ecosystem,” explains Daina Kleponė, Managing Director of Enterprise Lithuania, which organises the Summit. “It’s also about giving our international partners and guests easy access to the best that Lithuania’s defence technology community has to offer.”
Welcoming closer cooperation between the German and Lithuanian defence communities, Matthias Wachter, Head of Department for International Cooperation, Security Policy, Raw Materials and Space at the Federation of German Industries (BDI), said: “Our countries cooperate closely in the field of security and defence, and have strong economic ties. Our cooperation is an important contribution to the security of the Baltic States. Together, we strengthen the European pillar of NATO.”
