Vilnius: Finalist in European Green Capital 2025 Competition

Vilnius: Finalist in European Green Capital 2025 Competition

Outshining the competition, Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, stands tall as one of the finalists in the esteemed European Green Capital 2025 competition. Alongside fellow Arqus alliance cities Graz (Austria) and Guimaraes (Portugal), Vilnius competes in the category of cities with over 100,000 inhabitants. The European Commission’s Green Capital Award recognizes and rewards cities that lead the way in environmentally friendly urban living. This recognition not only highlights Vilnius’ dedication to addressing urban environmental challenges but also brings potential opportunities for private investments and national support. Together with the Arqus alliance, Vilnius aims to drive positive change, harnessing the power of education, research, innovation, and dissemination in the Arqus Living Lab on Climate Change and Sustainable Development. As the winners are announced on October 5th, 2023, in Tallinn, Estonia, Vilnius together with Graz and Guimaraes shines as a beacon of sustainable progress and environmental stewardship.
