The guidelines for the use of photos presenting Lithuania (hereinafter ‘the Guidelines’) lay down terms and conditions for the use of photos.
The Government of the Republic of Lithuania approved a strategy for presenting Lithuania abroad for 2020-2030 at its meeting of 9 September 2020 (Item No 1, Minutes No 40) (hereinafter ‘the strategy’). The strategy has identified four communication strands covering economy, culture, talent attraction, and public governance, along with the societal values of drive, growth, freedom to create, and connection with nature. The communication strands and the societal values make a positioning of the country: Lithuania is an open country to take on global challenges, to co-create and grow together). The photos aim to strengthen the visibility of the strands and values contained in the strategy to spread the message about Lithuania as a proactive and co-creative country that generates valuable solutions for the benefit of people in and beyond Lithuania.
Photos are intended to be used for non-commercial purposes of presenting Lithuania in line with the positioning of the Republic of Lithuania, the key communication strands, and the values outlined in the strategy, while strengthening the positive reputation (image) of the Republic of Lithuania and contributing to the objectives of the strategy.
The right to use photos will be granted to state and municipal institutions, establishments and organisations, diplomatic missions and consular posts of the Republic of Lithuania, associations, other legal and/or natural persons, who are in compliance with the requirements laid down in the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on Copyright and Related Rights, and in the Guidance.
Photos used shall contain a credit line identifying the author or the copyright-holder and a source, e.g.: ‘A. Aleksandravičius / www.lithuania.lt’. The author/copyright holder of the photo must be indicated next to the photo, at a click on the icon marked ‘i’.
The photos shall not be cropped or otherwise modified, thereby misrepresenting the image and/or information.
The photos may be used for the following purposes of presenting Lithuania abroad:

advertising and publicity campaigns;
international exhibitions, conferences, projects, or initiatives;
audiovisual works, other visual information;
publications and other prints;
on the website www.lithuania.lt and other websites presenting Lithuania;
communication on social networks;
souvenirs and representation gifts.

8. The photos shall not be used for the following:

where their use could damage the reputation and/or image of the Republic of Lithuania;
advertising of ethyl alcohol, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, tobacco products and tobacco products-related advertising, also advertising of gambling, instant credits etc.;
for commercial purposes.

9. The photos shall not be transferred for the use of other persons.

10. The photos shall be used free of charge.

11. Before the use of the photos, its user shall agree with the Guidelines provisions on the website: www.lietuva.lt. By agreeing, the user of the photos will confirm and assume responsibility for using the photo(s) strictly to the requirements laid down in the Guidelines.

12. Illegitimate use of the photos shall be forbidden, treating it as a violation of the Civil Code of the Republic of Lithuania and other laws protecting copyright.

13. Violation of the requirements laid down in the Guidelines shall entail liability under the copyright legislation.
