Vilnius Poker

Major exhibition at the MO Museum until 28 January 2024
A unique immersive exhibition at the MO Museum – part of Vilnius’ 700th birthday!
“Everything is possible in Vilnius,” wrote Ričardas Gavelis in Vilnius Poker.
The novel Vilnius Poker by Ričardas Gavelis is one of the most important texts to come from Vilnius and has become a cult symbol of liberation from the Soviet era and creative freedom. In the MO Museum exhibition, this work becomes a starting point for the discussion on freedom and liberation, memory, improvisation and experimentation, urbanity and multiculturalism. The novel offers sharp cuts to universal themes that transcend the boundaries of city and time, which will be revealed in the exhibition through the MO Museum’s collection and documentary material from different periods.
The exhibition is directed by one of the most prominent and innovative personalities in theatre – director Oskaras Koršunovas, and the exhibition’s architecture is designed by set designer and artist Gintaras Makarevičius. At the MO Museum, this artist duo is looking for unconventional and engaging solutions. Visitors to the exhibition will thus become both spectators and participants. The exhibition-total installation will show Vilnius residents a city from the recent past, while revealing a face of Vilnius that has never been seen before to visitors from abroad.
